Audio isn't stored unless your church turns on Service Replay; then each service is deleted 24 hours after it ends. Without it, live audio streams through our servers to the translation engines and is discarded as it's processed — there is no server-side recording of a live service. (The Mac and Windows capture apps can optionally save translated audio, and those files are written to your own booth computer, never uploaded to us.)

Service Replay is off until your church turns it on (dashboard → Transcripts & replay). When it's on, we keep what your listeners heard — each language's translation with the room's sound underneath, and the room on its own — so people can play the service again from your usual listener link. Only languages someone listened to live are kept, and worship songs are left out. Each service is deleted automatically 24 hours after it ends, or sooner when you press Delete now; turning the switch off stops new recordings.

Two features are different, and we say so plainly: if you use Audio Dubbing, the recording you upload and the dubbed tracks we generate are stored on our servers for 14 days so you can download them, then deleted automatically (or sooner when you delete the job). If you generate YouTube audio tracks from a transcript, those generated files are stored the same way. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose one of those features.

Transcripts are off until your church turns them on (the Enable checkbox at the top of the dashboard's Transcripts page). When they're on, they're text only — never audio — kept privately for your church so you can download them and get the AI sermon summary. You're in control: turn recording off again at any time, delete any service's transcript, and everything is deleted automatically after 90 days regardless — including transcripts of services that were interrupted before they finished.

Almost nothing, by design. Listeners scan a QR code and listen — no account, no signup, no app install, no personal information collected. We count how many phones are listening per language (so you can see it on the dashboard and so we can bill fairly), not who they are.

Your account and configuration (name, languages, schedules, branding), service history (when services ran, how long, how many listeners — the numbers behind your dashboard and your bill), and transcripts if you turn them on. Payments are handled by Stripe and sign-in by Clerk — your card number never touches our servers.

Yes. Account deletion is self-serve in the dashboard and removes your tenant configuration; transcripts can be deleted per service, or all at once by deleting the church account. If anything is unclear, email help@churchtranslator.ai and a human will answer.

We're a small, focused team and we don't yet hold formal certifications like SOC 2 — we'd rather tell you exactly what we do than imply otherwise. If your church or denomination has a data questionnaire, send it over; we answer them directly.
