Sunday volunteer card

  1. Start before the service

    1. Open the capture app on the booth computer.
    2. Ask someone to speak at the pulpit. The signal meter should move with their voice.
    3. Speaker using a different language today? Change it before you start: gear, then Settings…, then Translation, then Speaker language on a Mac, gear, then Settings…, then Speaker language on Windows.
    4. Click Start streaming. The status bar now reads streaming.

Don't close the app window: that stops translation for everyone. If the app asks, click Keep Running. Browser Capture: keep its tab visible.

  2. Listen check on a phone

    1. Scan the QR code and pick a translated language.
    2. Plug in headphones and tap the headphones button at the bottom of the screen (in English it reads listen).
    3. You should see captions and hear the translated voice.
  3. Monitor during the service

    • The meter moves when someone speaks, and the status bar reads streaming.
    • A gray notice under the buttons says why the app stopped. Do what it says, then click Start streaming.
    • Pause silences the translation for everyone. Resume brings it back.
    • Sunday dashboard: Live is good, Starting is normal until someone listens, Slow means keep watching. Degraded, Paused or Language down: act (below).
  4. Stop after the service

    • Click Stop (Stop streaming in Browser Capture).
    • Streaming time counts toward your church's hours until you stop.
    • Phones now show Waiting.

When something goes wrong

No sound on a phone

  1. Is the headphones button on, the volume up and the headphones in? If it says Audio paused by your phone — tap to resume, tap it.
  2. On the speaker's own language a phone only gets captions. Pick a translated language with the globe button.
  3. Phone says Waiting? The booth isn't streaming: click Start streaming.
  4. App meter flat? No audio is reaching the computer: check the board's send and fader, the cable and the interface, then the input in gear, then Settings…. App says paused? Click Resume.
  5. This language is temporarily unavailable, or the Sunday dashboard says Language down? It usually recovers by itself. Try another language meanwhile; call your tech lead if it lasts.
  6. Still nothing? Stop, then Start streaming (a short gap for listeners). App not responding? gear, then Hard Reset…, then start it again.

Wrong language

  • A listener picked the wrong one: they change it with the globe button at the bottom of their screen.
  • The preacher is speaking another language (the app shows Wrong source language): on the dashboard, click Switch to … now. Listeners hear a short pause. Afterwards, set your usual language back on the Languages page.
  • The app shows Still translating from …: click Switch to … now.

Lag

  • A short delay is normal: the translation has to hear a phrase before it can speak it.
  • On a phone that was scrolled up or replaying, tap Back to live.
  • Delay keeps growing, or the Sunday dashboard shows Slow or Degraded for more than a few minutes? Check the booth computer's internet, then Stop and Start streaming.
Stuck? Call your tech lead, then email help@churchtranslator.aiapp.churchtranslator.ai/guides/volunteer-card

Using the card

  • Type the three blanks above before you print, or write them in by hand. The listener link is on the Branding & QR page under Direct listener URL.
  • Print on US Letter or A4. The card fits one page; in the print dialog, turn off headers and footers for the cleanest result.
  • Keep it next to the booth computer, in a sheet protector if you can.
  • Hand it to a new volunteer and watch them do a dry run on a weekday before their first Sunday.
  • Print a fresh copy when your setup changes: a new computer, a new tech lead, a new listener link.

Setting things up for the first time? Start with Your first Sunday. Want the computer to start and stop by itself? See Schedules and automatic start.
